Who is it for?
This intensive lecture and workshop is meant for all voice users, including teachers, actors, singers, voice-over artists, public speakers, etc.

This means that it's NOT just for singers.

We all use our voices daily, and many of us with "normal" jobs develop voice issues due to not receiving education on vocal health.
You Will Gain
-
Functional knowledge of the vocal apparatus and all bodily systems that contribute to a balanced vocal practice.
-
Actionable habits to maintain a healthy voice.
-
Mechanisms to protect and manage the voice through periods of heavy usage and vocal injuries.
-
Ways to identify vocal issues as soon as they happen, as well as indicators as to when to see a medical professional.

Additionally, all participants will receive:
-
Vocal Health Guide PDF
-
Recommended vocal warm-up exercises for singers and non-singers
-
Reusable metal straw
Lecture
What bones, muscles, and other structures are responsible for our voice production?
How do internal and external factors affect our voice daily?
During the lecture, we will explore vocal anatomy, function, and touch on common pathologies. You will learn more than you've ever wanted to know about vocal health, function, and technique.
Workshop
We will put the knowledge gained in the lecture into action, right away.

Think yoga class meets alexander technique meets improv group. During the workshop, we will physically learn stretches, warm-ups, and breathing exercises geared towards a healthy vocal practice.
You may attend
Just the lecture, just the workshop, or both.
If you want more:
Up to five attendees are able to book a 15-minute individual coaching that will take place during the workshop. This coaching will take place in front of all workshop attendees.

The recipients of individual coaching will bring one piece to work on (may be a song, speech, poem, lines from a play, class lecture, etc.) The coaching will be personalized to the individual's needs, but may apply to both performance of the piece, preparation strategies, practice schedule suggestions, and miscellaneous questions or feedback.

Please book early as there will only be five spots for individual coaching.
